So I took some time off, not sure if you noticed or not or if you cared or not, but I really got tired of being a shill for shitty bands. I want this to be a site where I like things and if I don’t then hell I won’t write about them. There’s something to be said for integrity and since I’m not making any money off this venture then I shouldn’t have to worry about what people think of my tastes. Basically, when all is said and done, I’m writing for me. I will write less than before because I frankly don’t have time to write 3+ times a day and I’ll write when I want and how I want. So without further adieu here is the latest single by one of my favorite new bands Coasts.
I’ve written about Coasts before, but mainly because they had just come out and I was verrry excited about what I’d heard. Well I’ve got even more reason to get excited, my sources in the UK have told me that they’ve heard whispers of a 2014 US Tour. Now nothing is confirmed but plans are being formulated. I can also pass on that they are going to begin recording their debut album in January. Their newest single ‘Stay’, due out on 14th October, through Tidal Recordings, was recorded with producer Duncan Mills (Vaccines, Peace). ‘Stay’ marks a change and step up from the Bristol band. With subtle melodies underlying a cohesion of tropical strings and ambitious choruses that fill this sun drenched laden anthem. Set to be part of a EP slated for a 2014 release, ‘Stay’ is the first track to be revealed and will be released worldwide on 14th October on Tidal Recordings, along with an extensive Autumn UK tour.
Over the past 9 months the band have released two videos for debut single ‘Oceans’, and track ‘Wallow’, which has so far clocked in a combined total of over 430,000 Youtube views, along with 530,000 combined streams across all channels, picked up 30,000 global iTunes sales and received Radio 1 support from tastemakers Zane Low and Huw Stephens. In addition, the group have toured the UK twice, spent a 5-date jaunt playing shows in Europe, appeared at various festivals and had a stand in drummer, whilst original member, Ben, recovered from a compressed fracture to his neck. With Ben now recovered and the band armed with a new single, COASTS are set to hit the road again at in October with a 19-date tour across the UK.
