Is Nick Cave Hiding Something?

This was merely supposed to be me showcasing Nick Cave’s new video, but I got curious about something. I was like that guy in the horror movie that thinks too much and ends up in trouble. His upcoming album Push the Sky Away is due out in February (I think the 19th, though the exact date hasn’t been announced) and there are a ton of release dates and yet they all stop at April 3rd. In fact I’ll show you:

Preceding the North American dates, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds will be making a rare appearance in Mexico:

February 18th – Mexico City – El Plaza – SOLD OUT

February 19th – Mexico City – El Plaza

That’s not a big deal, right? I mean tons of artists go on tour to support their albums. My point isn’t the tour, it’s when it ends, April 3rd. Coachella is two weekends again this year (April 12-14 and 19-21). However, Cave’s dates stop on April 3rd and he isn’t confirmed for more until June when he plays some European festivals. Perhaps he plays both Coachella and Outside Lands this year, but I doubt the latter. Using my Sherlock Holmesian deductive reasoning and the fact that when I did contact his publicist they didn’t return an email for comment I am led to believe that Nick Cave will be one of the groups playing this year’s Coachella Festival. You heard it here first.

Now, his new video for the song “Jubilee Street” is a lyrical one so there isn’t much to see, but I like this trend. This is something I will be getting into here more. Lyrics are important and if you don’t know what you’re saying then really how can you claim to actually love a song? Anyway, you can preorder the album here. And be on the lookout for the Coachella confirmation, because it is coming. The Stones will probably be there too and I get the impression Johnny Marr will make an appearance as well. I’ll write a piece probably Friday on the odds of certain bands playing Coachella for fun.
