Concert Preview: Gregg Allman – Palace of Fine Arts

Gregg Allman is in the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame, the Georgia Hall of Fame, was married to Cher when she was hot (and talked about in a cameo on Family Guy, wrote a book about his life and was half of one of the greatest rock n’ roll bands of all-time, The Allman Brothers. Basically, Gregg Allman is a badass. No, let me rephrase, a legendary badass. His music after his older brother, Duane Allman, tragically died in 1971, has not only gotten better but more reflective.

This legend, who once said, “When I got out of high school, I thought, I’ll take a year or two off and play the clubs, get this out of my system, and then go to med school.” is playing the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco on Tuesday January 15th. Opening for Allman is Jamoie’s Jasssz Band (Jamoie Jasssz being the founding drummer of the Allman Brothers). This is the kind of gig people gear up for much of their lives and to see a legend like this in person is going to make this year start off perfect. I can’t wait. Ticket information is here. Get on it SF!
