Preview: Brandi Carlile & Blitzen Trapper – Fox Theater

Brandi Carlile reminds me quite a bit of Gram Parsons era Emmylou Harris. She doesn’t seem to fit into the modern country music narrative, which is a good thing. She has an authenticity to her twang and a genuineness in her voice that is exciting to those of us that want to see country music hearken back more to its roots of being closer to the Americana of the roots and less away from the garbage that is fed to us on every country music station today.

Carlile is the person that could bring that to the discussion. She has an ability to cut through the mundane bs that purveys that barren landscape, and enlighten us with a happy sound that pays homage to those great artists that created the back bone that modern country artists say they like yet still churn out poppy crap. Not only that, but Carlile’s live show is like a good ole fashioned hoe down where everyone dances, smiles and sings loudly like it was requirement upon admission.

Don’t believe someone could be that good? Well then let her prove you right as she plays the Fox Theater on Saturday in what is going to be a spectacular show with Blitzen Trapper opening for her. I had a chance to see Blitzen Trapper play with Dawes last year and it was such a great show, I anticipate this show to be even better! Come out November 10th at 8pm to see a show that you will seem like time just flew by as you sing and dance like your life depended on it. Tickets are still available, but going fast so get on it!

Tickets available here.
