Sound City

It isn’t everyday that a musician turns documentary filmmaker, so when they do you know it has to be a passion project. That’s exactly how Dave Grohl describes his latest project. Here’s the synopsis of the film from the Facebook page:

The film was conceived by Grohl after purchasing the legendary Neve 8028 recording console from Sound City Studios last year. The console, built in 1972, is considered by many to be the crown jewel of analog recording equipment, having recorded such artists as Neil Young, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, Cheap Trick, Guns and Roses, Fear, Nirvana, Rage Against the Machine, Slipknot, Nine Inch Nails, Metallica, and countless other musical legends over the past 40 years.

I love documentaries that really get to the heart of what music is all about. This is more than a behind the scenes feature, this is the story of a love affair with music and a place that created some of the greatest albums of all time.
